Anna Brattström will present a study: Governance misaligned: how within-firm politics influence between-firm collaboration.
In inter-organizational alliance research, the core theme is how partners overcome between-firm goal conflict, while an implicit assumption is that within firms, all members share the same interest in an alliance. Based on a six-year inductive case study, we show that this assumption is not entirely correct. Instead, we present a process model, reframing interfirm relationships as political battlefields, where internal conflict of interests are played out. In this way, we open new ground for building theory on interfirm relationship dynamics and governance.
