Position

Professor (Chair in Business Administration, special in Entrepreneurship and Venture Finance)

I presented my thesis in 1987 at the Department of Industrial Management, Lund Institute of Technology, in Sweden. The thesis was a qualitative study of ten new technology-based firms and I analyzed the entrepreneurial behaviour with a particular focus on the financial decisions made by the entrepreneurs. Since then my interest in entrepreneurial finance has remained, and I have focused my research interests on venture capital in early stage ventures, formal as well as informal venture capital. In the 1990s I was active at Halmstad University College where I, together with Professor Bengt Johannisson at Växjö University, founded Scandinavian Institute for Research on Entrepreneurship (SIRE) in which about 20 researchers were involved. At Halmstad University College I was also responsible for the master’s programme in Innovation Management. For a couple of years in the 1990s, I was the President of the Europan Council for Small Business (ECSB). Since 2001 I hold a Chair in Business Administration at Lund University. I am founding member and member of the Executive Group of the Center for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy (CIRCLE) as well as the founding member of the Sten K. Johnson Centre for Entrepreneurship (SKJCE). My research interest in entrepreneurial finance has continued but I have also been more and more interested in the history of entrepreneurship as a research field and education (learning) in entrepreneurship.
